About the Author
Jake George has been writing professionally for four years. Published articles and books
range from medical self-help, to stories and esseys about Native Americans.
Jake is of mixed Lenape (Delaware Indian) and White blood. He grew up in Rochester, NY and
has visited other countries throughout his life and interacted with the Native peoples, he
met along the way, to learn what he could of their cultures and to impart on them some of
his Native American culture and heritage. Jake is active in the winter Pow Wow circuit
in Florida and dance Men’s Traditional dance. He makes the majority of his own regalia and
is a maker and player of Native American flutes.
Married to his High School sweetheart almost thirty years ago, Jake and his wife Jan, live
in central Florida. They share their life with two smooth Collies and a pet snake. Jake
works for the Department of the Air Force as an Acquisition Logistics specialist and is
retired from the US Navy reserves. His wife Jan is his primary editor and business manager.
Co-Author of “Graves’ Disease, In Our Own Words” with
Nancy Patterson Ph.D. released September 2002, (ISBN 1-878398-20-2). A medical self-help
book, it is 214 pages of information on Graves’ disease with question and answer
format chapters. First printing sold out in ten months. We are currently in our second
printing.
Author of “The Red Man In Me,” a CHAP book
of Native American poetry, short stories and essays. It is forty pages and published by
Blue Note Publications. It is a limited edition of 1000 signed copies. Due to the limited
edition of the publication I did not request an ISBN number.
A frequent Guest Columnist, (Florida Today) on Native issues.
Numerous articles published related to health issues regarding Thyroid disease. Some of his thyroid articles have been translated into
6 languages through the National Graves' Disease Foundation.
Jake is is available for Public engagements and book signings. He is able to promote the book at bookstores, Native American
gatherings and Pow Wows.
Jake has appeared on televised broadcasts as well as interviewed on radio regarding health issues as well as Native American topics.
